Artifact Description
The N64 is the start of the gaming in my life. I remember having great times playing this console. Played it mostly with my siblings and also friends whenever they came over. Once we were done playing outside (or got too dark out) or if we were bored playing with our toys we would turn to this for entertainment. I never got bored of playing the N64. As soon as we got home my brothers and I would push/shove each other upstairs to be the first start playing. We laughed, yelled and generally just had a good time. Even though I have some of the newer generation consoles I still play this from time to time, I just have to gather all the parts (controller, wires, system) set it up and just have a good time.
This object affected my life because it introduced me to the world of gaming. Most of the things I am interested in are usually really related to gaming. Thanks to the N64 I know what it was like to game and experience how fun it is. Today, there are people who look down on video games usually blaming it for other things that happen like violent criminal acts. I'd like to say I am part of the gaming community because I've been gaming my whole life. Playing games helped me get to know a lot of people. With others we discussed gameplay, graphics, story/plot and what we liked or disliked about games. We just all wanted to play something and have a lot of fun.
This artifact belongs to the teamwork and culture group for various reasons. This goes to teamwork because to make a console or game you need a whole bunch of people to work together to create that experience of playing games or creating one. In some games they’re team-based games which means you have to work with others to play the game. When playing games they'll require teamwork in order to win. Also belongs in culture because there are now gaming communities for certain games and other things. I think games are a great way to make/create a culture and also teach some teamwork. The games can start form a community because games can act like a catalyst for those with interest in gaming.
